I'm hoping someone may be able to help with a problem i'm currently having.
I have a 316i se 2001 M43 engine, I have been having problems when starting, usually after a short journey, when i go to restart the car the rev counter starts going up and down on it's own and then the traction control light comes on and stays on. Sometimes it will fire, idle rough for 5 seconds or so then cut out, other times it will not start at all
I have plugged it in with a cheap OBD2 code reader and the fault codes listed were P0340 (current) cam position sensor and P0355.(pending) Crank position sensor.
Cam somebody clarify, as there seems to be lots of threads about this same problem, with several different answers. I am reluctant to change both the sensors if it is not totally nessercary. Are the problems i'm getting most likely the cam sensor or the crank sensor or both?
Also if somebody could post pictures of the locations of both sensors that would be great. M43 engine
Any help would be gratefully received. Thanks
