I have this, local indy spotted it after completing last service, its a sensor fault. Not sure on cost but would best having done during a service when oil is changed.

 

common prob, it gets gunked up. its on the sump and is best to change it at the same time as an oil service as you have to drop the oil to change it.

 

IIRC the sensors are about £95 from BMW......:eek

 

If its £95 quid I might need to be living with it lol!!! Thanks for the advice though.
