Hi to all,
I'm new to this so firstly, hello everyone. Please let me me know if I have posted this wrong.
I have a E36 316i SE Compact which has the standard 15" alloys on. A friend of mine has offered me a set of 17" Bimmer wheels with 225/45's from his E46. They have the same offset and do look much better on the the car but I have a couple of questions.
1. In my car's manual, it talks about having a steering lock limiter fitted if larger wheels are fitted ex factory. How critical is this and how do I know if this has been fitted or not? I'm assuming I would rub the edge of the tire against the inner arch on full lock if a limiter hasn't been fitted and this doesn't happen in my case.
2. With the 17" wheel fitted to the front drivers side (RHD), the gap between the inside edge of the tire and the cup which holds the spring is very small. I guess about 5 or 6mm. Is this normal?
I would appreciate any advice and help and I thank you in advance.
Dave.
