Due to strong demand I am posting this thread to show you how to post pictures in your threads on Bimmerforums UK.

Firstly, make sure you are in 'advanced reply' mode. So if you selected 'quick reply' ,look below the text window and click on the 'go advanced' button which will take you to a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get!) editor with more features including picture upload potential!

Ok, now click on the 'Manage Attachments' button highlighted in red below

Now, click on the 'Browse button' in the new window, this is highlighted in red below. Navigate your computer and find the location where the picture you want to upload is stored. Now press the 'Upload' button highlighted in green.

Please don't try and upload huge (filesize) pictures (as in a 5mb high resolution image).... the size limit for each different file extension is listed in the bottom half of this window.

OK, the uploading will take a few seconds usually unless the file is large, once it has uploaded you will see this (the filename will be whatever your picture file is called!)

You can upload multiple pictures and they will all show in a list in the format above. If you want to remove pictures you have uploaded just click the 'remove' button next to the offending picture.

One you have finished, click the 'Close this window' link highlighted in the picture above in green.

They will be displayed in preview squares at the bottom of the post, and when clicked on will enlarge to their original size.

Posting pictures within the thread content - If you were doing a 'how to' guide for example

ok, sometimes you may want to post pictures within the actual text of your post if you are doing a guide or explaining something.

To do this, please sign up for a free account at

http://www.photobucket.com

Now, once you have logged in with your new free account, click on the 'Upload Images and Video' button that is near the top of the page...

See picture one attached to this post.

You will get a browse dialog box so go through your pc and find the images. Photobucket allows you to upload multiple images at once so use Ctrl and your left mouse button to select multiple files (if you need more than 1) and click ok.

Once the pictures upload to your album, if you look underneath the picture you will see 4 text fields

Email & IM
Direct Link
HTML Code
IMG Code

Copy the IMG codeby just clicking your cursor into the IMG Code box, and now open up your bimmerforums browser windows (or start a new browser page) and 'paste' the IMG code into your post. The easiest way to do this is to press Ctrl and V at the same time.
Alternatively copy all your IMG codes into notepad and save them for later use.
You can see how your post is going to look with images by clicking the 'Preview' button next to 'Submit' and underneath the post text box. There has to be a few words of text in the post though otherwise it will not allow a preview as to the forum, the post window is 'empty' at that time.

How to add a signature to your Bimmerforums Profile

To add a signature to your profile

Click the 'User CP' link in the menu bar at the top of every page.
In the list on the left go to the 'settings and options' menu item and then go to the 'Edit signature' link in that group. See attached picture 1.

Next, if you want to add text, you can do so in the WYSIWYG editor (see picture 2)

If you just have a 'small' image to upload (max 600 pixels wide 100 high iirc) then use the upload feature seen in picture 3.

To add an avatar to your profile

Go to the link below the 'edit your signature' link described above.

Then you can upload a gif of max size 116 x 166 pixels or 96 Kb, whichever is bigger. See picture 4 for this.

Notes - No advertising allowed in your signature either in the form or links or pictures.
No advertising in your avatar picture either please.

Signatures and/or Avatars breaking these rules will be removed and the offending user warned.
Second offence is a ban!
