View attachment 272121 The PA Soft 1.36 interface pcb has 3 wires at X3 (the vehicle side male db9 serial connector)
pin1 bridged to pin 2 at the db9 connector
pin 9 +12v
pin 4 K line

The pin-out of the 20 pin socket on my UK 1997 E39 528SE is as follows:-

19 ground
20 k line
14 power
15 L line - not populated in socket
17 k line - not populated in socket

PAsoft 1.36 won't read all the modules with the usb lead from interface to pc
Maybe I need to use the serial cable from interface to laptop ?

it reads 6 out of the 13 modules fitted, it does not read abs, dme, lcm
there is no obd port inside the car.
from what i gather even if i had the obd2 port inside the car, you still need the 20 pin under the bonnet to read all modules fitted
L line was discontinued before mine was built as it uses k line only
L line for the ads protocol used pin 15 when pin 15 was fitted

I have it working now - ignition on, the only way it reads all of the modules, despite everyone's advice that you only need position 2.
have fitted an lcm3 instead of my old lcm2 and coded it with the correct algorithm and mileage so the .tamper dot disappears. however, no indicators or main beam if using the stalk. Also headlamp bulb out warning as i have aftermarket hid in both main and dipped headlights. I don't think pa soft can program the lcm to sort the stalk issue but can turn off the cold and hot check for the headlights - bugger
