Hi I need some help wiring a camera to replace one of the existing number plate lights and I am puzzled.

The camera/light is a direct replacement and wires into 2 of the 4 wires currently connected to existing light, the other wires on camera go to reversing light.

I need to completely remove the old unit so I will cut FOUR wires.

1. Boot/Trunk release
2. 12v power
3. 12v loop to other number plate light
4. Ground

Camera led red to 2 (live)
Camera led black to 4 (ground)

Now I am stuck, what happens to wires 1 & 3, as I don't just blank them off I assume.

I browsed around at length at found a post where someone was stuck exactly the same, he never got it answered in 2011, so apologies to kevz65 from that post for
posting his "attached" picture showing the yellow dotted line where he cut wires and asks the same question.

appreciate help thanks

I have a 2001 318ci e46

Yes I know thanks, I mentioned both those points in original thread.

What I have is 4 wires from new camera number plate unit

One goes to live on reversing light
another goes to ground on reversing light.

That leaves me with 2 wires which go to "2 of the 4 wires from removed unit"

12v power to wire 2 (on attached pic)
Ground to wire 4 (on attached pic)

What I am asking is what happens to the remaining two wires as I need to cut them to remove existing numberplate light.

1. Boot/Trunk release
3. 12v loop to other number plate light

Thanks

Ah sorry mate. Its for that reason I decided to put my round camera into my bumper trim along with the rear parking sensors.I didn't want to mess with the boot handle.
