I have an e46 318 tI compact only covered 70k miles dropped a cylinder no compression fear scored barrel been offered a 2006 n46 engine would it be possible to make one good one out of the two orooms engine be compatable?
Is a n46 engine block compatable with a n42 head ?

Hello mate they nearly identical engines and can be swapped over, same heads ect. Tou may need to use your own rocker cover as the n46 one is a little diffrent. But essentially cross compatible.
Thanks for the reply normally only run the 6 pots and v8s the 4 pots are no where near as rebust
