Does it only happen when the car is cold? If so, look for a crack or hole in the rubber boots from the MAF to the throttle body. This is very common with the Z3's. You may want to have a small mirror and torch with you to inspect the under sides. The small elbow tube is a favorite failure point.

Caution: the rubber boots will be fragile, so treat them with kindness or you will damage them.

still have the misfire problem - But I found if I don't let the revs drop below 1000-1500 when at lights, etc. its not a problem. The loss of power occurs if the revs drop below 1000 rpm and then does not fix its self for a while.

Got to be a sensor I am thinking? Any ideas?

 

could be a crank/cam sensor on its way out. worth checking the plug connections for dirt/corrosion.

Thinking about it the problem started after I had some work done on the car. Had the power steering pipe replaced as it was leaking, could be they damaged the connection
