Hey guys

I've got a 318d f30 2013 with 125k on clock

Had no issues apart from last night

Was driving along busy road no warning my car loses all power.

Cuts out and I can't even put hazards on

Checked battery is correct volts at front but no amps going to fuse box.

Random as f##k it then once on back of recovery truck lights came on and had power again.
Had a 1hr 30 trip so lights had been on for that journey so now I don't have enough juice to start her up and I've got multiple malfunctions on dash I.e brakes rpa failed charge battery .....

Any one got ideas what it could be

Regards

Tom

Thank you mate for reply

I'm gonna have a good dig on it tomorrow I hope it is as simple as small lead loose or dirty connection somewhere

Just baffled me how it's come out of nowhere best car I've had for reliability apart from this

I'll let you know outcome tomorrow

So battery has lower but there’s no power at fuse box? If that’s the case you need to check connections on the power distribution that lives on top of battery to make sure everything is clean and tight. Also while at it check the earth connection from battery to body is good
So pulled battery out of boot to charge thr positive has a burn mark on it pic to follow

I would get a new BST cable if it was me number 1 in above link, the BST trigger that’s melted in I would cut one off a car in scrap yard and splice it in to yours. You wouldn’t specifically need f30 one as most Bmw have same plug. Just get enough length to cut away damaged bit on yours.
Finally got it off would this have caused it to completely die on electrics

Here's the cable fried

How much my local bmw non dealer specialist will charge to sort this out could do it but can not be arsed tbh

Yes it would cause it but you also need to establish what caused the problem, could just be poor connection at battery which caused heat but you want to make sure there’s not an underlying problem.
Absolutely no idea what they would charge, I would be replacing the battery aswell if it was mine.
Noted I've ordered new cables and 10mm spares 40 squid gonna try that before I go to specialist and hope for best

Took battery off she charging well

I'll keep post updated
