Hello everybody, I'm wondering if anyone can give any advise on a fault with my car?
I bought an approved used 330d last week. It's a 2013 reg and has 36000 miles on the clock. It's also an 8 speed automatic.
As soon as I got on the motorway driving the car home, I noticed a rumbling noise which is at its worse between 65-75 mph. The rumbling noise is low pitched and sounds as though a wheel may be bent/has a flat spot.
In light of this I took the car to my local BMW dealer for them to have a look. They have found a flat spot in my front passenger side wheel. They have put a brand new replacement wheel on and I have picked the car up expecting it to be sorted but found the same noise is still there. The technicians say they have check the drivetrain and wheels and tyres and all seems ok.
I have booked the car in again for next week for further investigation but I'm just wondering if anybody has any suggestions?
Also the rumble seems to be louder on acceleration from 70mph to 80 and is especially worse going uphill. If I let off the power and 'coast' the noise seems to disappear even at high speed which would suggest it's nothing to do with the wheels.
I'm not sure if it's related but I've also noticed a slight clunk/rattle from the rear of the car at very low speeds which seems to happen when I go over a grid or any slight bump in the road or move the car over an uneven surface (it kind of creaks a little sometimes too but I guess this is normal as the car flexes slightly)
This rattle/ clunk noise seems to be intermittent but the rumble at higher speeds happens every time I go between 65-75 mph without fail.
Thank you for any help with this,
Charlie
