Ladies and gents,
I'm looking for a new car and as a long time BMW devotee, naturally my search started with a BMW. I'm a diver and I have a dog and so I need a larger vehicle with a practical boot, meaning either a touring or a four wheel drive. I do a bit of gentle off roaming and so immediately, I was drawn to the X5 or the X3. For reasons that are off topic, I decided the X5 wasn't for me and amidst testing other cars, narrowed it down to an F25 X3 or, strangely, a Land Rover Discovery Sport.
Both have their advantages and disadvantages and both are, really, quite different cars and good at different things. To my mind it isn't so much that I need to find one to be better than the other, rather I need to find the one I prefer.
What it boils down to is that on testing the Disco Sport, I am ready to order one. It would do everything I need it to well. However, when I tested an X3, I loved the looks of the M-Sport model and I loved the drive. The handling is the best of any SUV to my feel - and so on that, I was ready to order an X3. However, I really don't get on with the sport seats. It isn't that they're actively uncomfortable, just that they aren't particularly comfortable for me and if I'm not sure, that's a potential deal breaker at this price.
However, I have always liked BMW's standard seats and so I wondered if we could put an SE or x-line seat in the M-Sport. The dealer tells me there are two options - either the factory does it as a special order, which they aren't even sure is on the cards, or alternatively, the dealer orders two cars from the manufacturer, takes the sport seats out of mine and puts those in the second car, to run as a demonstrator, then put the standard seats out of the demonstrator into mine.
I'm not sure how I feel about that. I wonder, has anyone else had a similar problem? How did you solve it?
