E91 - average mpg reset automatically

Hi everyone.

I've read in the owners manual that the average mpg counter should reset every time you switch the ignition off/on however mines doesn't do this. It keeps the previous trip info.

I know how to reset it manually but I would prefer to have the system do this automatically.

Doesn't sound like much but I would rather know what mpg I got for each trip as opposed to say a whole tank of fuel.

Any ideas on how to get it to do this? Can't see anything in the iDrive menu for it.

It doesn't appear the car is able to cope with this kind of calculation, manual reset is the only way.

My old skoda, golf and touran could do this but maybe its not necessary for BMW.

mine does not reset self. you have to press the reset button. where did you read that in the manual?

It turns out I didn't read that in the manual, I misinterprited the section on Navigation that suggests you can also record additional info through the Nav system such as trip MPG......

I read the manual again and realised my error.

Still sucks though:mad

Could you not map a soft key to the reset function?

Nothing comes up in the menu to do that but I suppose it's already done as you press the button on the indicator stalk to reset it manually.
