Ive owned autos and my freinds too never experienced any problem its just scare mungering focusing on a few isolated incendents the auto option is usually about £1800 to £2500 extra option so yes in theory it would cost alot to fix but im sure if u looked at the sales compared with auto faults this would be very small plus auto usaully are driven less harshly compared to manuals so its a gamble really

Just putting it out there but i watched some mad programme called wheeler dealers last night where they bought a porsche boxster for £1000 straight away i thought SHED on the way back with it they noticed the auto box was slipping causing dodgy auto gear changes turned out just changing the grarbox oil and filter £200 fixed the problem if only the owner knew this as hed left it undriven for the past 4 years thinking it was going to cost thousands to fix...lol.

Go for a manual if in doubt,more fun to drive,more control in snow/ice,better mpg,less problematic

Yeah the reason i'm unsure is i'd love a 335d but they only come in auto.

Was considering getting that or a manual 330d and remapping it. You'd think getting one on around the 50/60k miles mark would be fine for a good while yet though right?

 

Get a manual 335i petrol

You know what you would be suprised 100% motorway driving yes diesel will be better but a bit of both petrol is the winner plus it sounds like a proper sportscar not a tractor

Only a few miles per gallon difference take into consideration there a few thousand pound cheaper than 335d and come in manual makes it a no brainer for me if u do less than 8k per year get petrol if more than 8k get diesel

I had a e46 318 running at 32mpg and moved to a 330 running around 24mpg, on the motorway 40mpg is easily acheived i was dreading the fuel bills but its only £5 more a week to run in fact if i drive normal i can get the same full tank to last exactly 2 weeks the same as the 318 before totally shocked and the E90 petrols return better mpg than e46 anyway so bonus

My brother has a 335d and never uses it on the motorway hardly around the streets he gets approx 28mpg and cost him more to fill up worth considering

 

I do about 15-20k a year so will have to be diesel.

Most of my driving will be on the A roads and motorway. If i'm in the office its 8 miles all on A roads and the M1.

I havent been able to find many 335i petrols. Also, the increased tax and insurance compared to the D makes it work about the same in the long run for initial cost of the car.

 

Yeah get a diesel but if u do lots of miles the 320d is prob more pratical

I think the coupes are awesome though. I imagine a 635d would be way outta my budget.

Im gonna go 330d/335d depending on what i can find. A manual will be nice for the 330d.

 

Yeah a budget of 9k u will struggle ive seen plenty of saloon 330 and 335 for that even cheaper if u dont choose m-sport model

530d and 535d is an option
