E87 CAS reset

My E87 is suffering from the dreaded Red Steering and padlock warning sign :mad

This has happened before and was diagnosed as a CAS issue. Once the CAS module was reset, the car was able to be driven.

Is there any way that I can manually reset the CAS module so that I can use the car until I can afford for the module to be changed by the local dealer?

Sure it's the module that needs changing? The motor in the steering column seizes and one of the temp fixes is to reset or update the CAS.

A CAS unit fault code was found when the dealer performed their diagnostics. When cleared, the issue went away for a while.

Only way to reset CAS is using diagnostics.

CAS reset is overrated. I've done it and it did nothing (yes the CAS was in fact reset - the Start button light briefly went out).

I've done it simply with ediabas/tool32 and a cheap obd cable.
(The hard part was finding out the sequence of commands though
