it doesnt mentioned any were in the thread about which wires go to the steering ecu from the paddles

i know these must be earth and illumination these can be tapped in the the other switch wires or do they have different pins they connect to

Hi dude,

I'm about to do the same upgrade like you did but i'm not sure were exactly the cables from the wheel/ribbon cable need to go? I know that they should go somewhere to the gear knob but where exactly?
Page number 1, post number 3.
Please, read the whole thread, all important info is here.

you need 2 more wires than your current ring has, so any car with a slip ring the size of the E60 with two additional wires....as the OP posted. :)
Exactly, alternatively you can mod your existing one, as I have done.
The only downside is, as I found when I have done my one, is that the at the steering wheel module was no way to connect the two signals, so, I have had to take the two wires just before the module, and route them from there...

where is the moduel.have run cables from gear shifter to coloum.ive found the two paddleshift cables on steering wheel.tried to trace the pins at bottom of coloum,no success.if I connect the 2 paddle wires to the cable from gear shifter it works.cant trace from wheel down.so where do they go from wheel.

Right, not really sure what you have done, but obviously you have messed up somewhere...
Have you read ALL my posts?
I have mentioned in one about the difficulty of get it connected to the stering module, and where I have diverted the signals straight after the slip ring...
