hiya I have same problem with 535.found that the 2 blue cables in steering wheel are paddle cables.they are in plug which is on left as you look at it.im confused with where they connect.it cant go on right plug.thats where the airbag plugs into.ive run the two shifter cables from box which are the two middle cables on blue plug on gearstick.ones green and ones purple.thats up and down shift.cant figure out how to get from paddles to shifter cables.in live in kent too, much help needed for retrofit.willing to pay for someone to do it.

Just digging this one up as have simple question...if i wanted to swap the triptonic UP (downshift) DOWN (upshift) to the otherway round like the E39/Daytona arcades....can ayone advise what wires would need to be moddified? heres diagram from page one so you dont need to scroll back...

Hi
I have done this some time ago... lol...
The diagram, (i know is not very good though...), shows the wires that need to be grounded in order to up-shift and down-shift...
All you need is to know how the those paddles work, (I never seen them...) and then connect them accordingly.
Have a look here...
WDS BMW Wiring Diagram System - Model Selection

I am sure it can be done...

Hello,

I found your thread about retrofiting paddle shifter. I read all the topic but i'm not sure i understand all.

My setup :

BMW 535d automatic 272hp from 2007 with M steering wheel with no paddle

I bought a 2007 M6 steering wheel with "-" and "+" illuminated paddles

I plug it to the car, illumination works, but paddles don't.

I found that on steering wheel connector, it's pin 4 and 6 that are the SMG signal for the two paddles. when i push one paddle the pin goes to ground ... am i right ?

How can i find the right pin beside the steering wheel column that i have to wire to gearbox ?

Do i have to buy a M5 steering wheel slip ?
If i mod the slip i have, how do i choose the cables on the ribbon to use the 4 and 6 pin from my M5 steering wheel ?

Thanks a lot, and have a nice day from France ;)

Hi

Correct, the signal to downshift and upshift is ground...
The paddles illuminate, but the clock spring has no connections for it.. so you need either a clock spring with those two extra connections, or you can modify yours... that was how I have done it.

That's great!
So, your clock spring actually had the two spare lanes in the ribbon cable then... my one did not... I had to add a second ribbon cable... but same principle...

;) :thumbsup

Thanks a lot for your help giving me the idea how to do it in the past post even if it was easier for me :D
No worries!
If was today, I would have done a video for it, and would post it on my Youtube channel... but this was well before...
At least you got it done, and that is the most important!

Wow !

I look on your youtube channel ... amazing you are !

The retrofit was made on friend car ... i have a 330xd E91. Maybe you can help me ... i have a central lock problem on my car, it's not working from key fob. Inside car and with manual key no problems .
I check fuses -> ok
I check wiring in the trunk -> ok
i check changing the diversity module in the trunk and still not working ... i ride for one month with the new module and i decide to put the old one ... all work !!!!

one month ago, i go to car wash, and after centralisation not working anymore !

I look into diversity module, and no water, but i see some water at passager foot ...

have you already have this problem to repare ?

Thank you for visiting my channel, hope you have subscribed! ;)
I never came across that issue, if you have water in there, lift the carpets, and see if there is perhaps some plugs in there, and water is getting into them...
Have you scanned the car, now that the problem is present?
