Hi there,

I've been contacted by someone who claims that remapping my car will offer 35 bhp gains. I love the idea but have always found the old saying that when something seems too good to be true it usually is.

Doing some background checking on this person (i don't want to dump anybody in it) they have experience of modifying cars / engines so it's not that I've been spammed or am talking with an idiot or anything....

The question is - is getting 35 bhp from a remap really possible?

And if it is - is there a reason why other places only offer 17 bhp....eg will the 35 bhp remap do bad things to my car?

Finally - are there any good questions to ask.....like where the map comes from or anything else more detailed that would help me get to the bottom of this?

Cheers,
Andy

TBH, it's rubbish I have been told NA engines gain virtually nothing from remaps unless you install intakes, and new manifolds/exhausts etc. then you are getting the gains from the items and you probably just smooth everything out with the remap.

Even 17bhp is slightly laughable... from what I'm heard remapping NA cars is "pie in the sky" (except on cars with things like V-tecs - as the Type R, or the VVTI of of the higher engined celica's, but even then there not masses to be had).
