Well, for my first post on bimmerforums I thought I may as well cover something that doesn't appear to already be on here.
I recently made the move from OEM audio, to an aftermarket HU install in my E39. Three years of telling myself that only OEM would do came to a head, and I had to do something about it :hihi
Anyway, after installing an Alpine CDA9887R , using the OEM single din fascia adapter, I needed somewhere to put my iPod, and apologies for offending anyone by saying this, but there was no way in hell I was going to have it stuck to my windscreen !! So, after a nosey around I became aware of the "LumiDock".
I didn't fancy having the "BMW" lettering on display that the LumiDock offered, nor did I like the plain approach, so I enquired if I could just have an apple logo positioned centrally, and the reply was a resounding "YES" ..
So, enough waffling from me, and no I am not linked to the LumiDock company :hihi .. I will let the pics of my install do the talking ...
PS: To anyone thinking about going for aftermarket audio in their E39, I say do it !!! After a few days I became so accustomed to the look of it that I was kicking myself for being such an OEM only man for so long !! Although, the OEM single Din fascia is 99% to thank for the change, as it really is the only option that looks good ....
