Hi Guys,

Hopefully this info I found out from my tyre guy will be useful to someone. Here are the recommended wheel sizes and offsets for your E36:

17"
7x17 = ET 42
7.5x17 = ET 40
8x17 = ET 35

18"
7x18 = ET 40
8x18 = ET 45

19"
8.5x19 = ET 35

If I understand correctly, the ET figure is th amount of positive offset (the further the hub-mounting surface is away from the centre of the wheel). So, for example, if you fitted 8.5x19's with an ET of 45 - it would site 10mm closer inwards - possibly hitting the suspension or inner arch.

Hope this helps. :thumbsup

As far as I know, ET 47 and IS 47 are the same thing - both referring to positive offset. "47" being the actual measurement from the centre-line of the wheel.

What size wheels are you running with those offsets?

I understand what you are saying and you have the correct idea:thumbsup

ET47 will sit in the arch further and closer to suspension components whereas an ET35 will sit closer to the outer arch and further away from the suspension:cool
