Folks my beautiful coupe was keyed last night; both sides, boot lid and bonnet x 2 outside my house in Southend. The bonnet is pretty bad, looks like it might be down to the metal. As you can imagine I'm not a happy bunny but want to get it sorted (at my own cost) ASAP so can anyone point me towards anyone who will do a good job and not rip me off? Have a couple of stone chips I might get done at the same time. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

might be worth posting some pics so peeps get an idea and can advise better??? - sounds like it'll probably be a blow over at best..

and with that level of damage it sounds personal - so i'd be wary of getting it fixed without getting to the bottom of it first.. be a shame if you got it fixed and it happened again..

hopefully karma will come round and pay the scum that did it back in a big way! :D

So they caught the culprit, a "respectable" middle aged, married woman who live 2 doors from me! Apparently she was "upset" about people parking NEAR! her drive and subsequently keyed 6 cars including mine, a 2010 1 series convertible and 2 BMW Minis. She was caught in the act and has been arrested and charged, they found a list of registrations in her house and her husband (in order to avoid being charged as an accessory) has offered to pay for the damage, although I think he may have underestimated the cost...

Anyone recommend a body shop near Southend or had any experience with Smart repairs???

Many thanks...

I like the idea of a complete respray in the local main dealers body shop ;0 however it doesn't sound to promising as I'm sure she will get away with a smacked wrist from an "understanding" judge lol

Expect the repair will end up coming out of my pocket...

Well, It's good that they caught them, they broke the golden rule "Don't f**k with a man's wheels!".

It's unlikely they'll be able to pay for all repairs, so get a cost effective repair and get the bill in quick. ie. don't get a full respray and hand them a bill for ÂŁ1500 as they will think they'll rather have a day in court and get chewed out by the judge, and then you'll have to go through suing them for money they won't have.

Get a good price in first and hopefully they'll get you paid out before they realise the price of a respray, and why you shouldn't touch someone else's car.

Just had a chat with Carcraft in Westcliff on Sea (No not THAT Carcraft lol) and he has advised a BIG BIG quote for the police and then a more realistic one direct to the evil bitch's other half.

Going to pop round there in a bit...

For once the scumbag who did this has been caught. First post I have read of a car keying and the fcuker gets caught in the act. I had a car keyed once and it was truley gutting. I came out and thought someone had sprayed silly string along the door and rear quarter, nope that was the paint.

I really hope you get your car repaired to at least as good as it was before the incident.

What goes around comes around and all that!

Agree with Pauly,

Surely they have to pay, whether its from their house insurance, car insurance etc. they have got to pay and the government have got to enforce that.

Well I am talking like this is a country which supports justice.

Personally I'd rather argue it through court all day long and if it got no where and they couldn't force them to pay I'd happily pay for the job my self and through a can of brake fluid over their cars.

i'd get it done properly by the dealer if i were you. I understand the likelihood of them not paying but she been caught and guilty as charged..you can take them to court. Its a long process i know and suppose it defeats the purpose which is to get your car sorted asap BUT for me it a matter of principle. I'd be going to get as much as possible from them. How dare she FFS!!!!!

Too right!
She's been caught so you have a VERY good case if it was to go to court. As said though, if there's any hint of them not paying then I'm fairly sure none of your neighbours would see you pouring paint stripper over their cars...

She sounds like a proper psyco to me! who is now hated by everyone in the same road so make sure they don't try and sell up and leave before paying.
