I have just got the above car its a 1999 model with 106000 miles on the clock, and its my first bmw i have ever owned. Can anyone tell me what the individual is, was it a limited run is it rare and are they worth more. I am not too clued up on bmw,s but this one is in a very nice metalic purple and has lots of m parts like mirrors, bumpers and 18 inch wheels. Not seen ant individuals for sale and the convertibles prices seem to be all over the place from ÂŁ1000 -ÂŁ2500. Just trying to see what its worth before i replace rear window and service it, any ideas. I will post some photos. Thanks

You may just have an individual colour which doesn't make it worth alot more unless it's very rare (like mine)
If it has lots of other individual bit like extended leather it's worth a bit more but what makes a car worth more than another is the condition.
I would loose those aftermarket e46 wheels and put on some bbs 328i sport rims.

Yours is quite late but not the latest, they were built upto the end of 1999.
My 328i vert was built in August 1999 and has a very rare colour combo with all the extras and I paid ÂŁ3.5k for it a year ago.
If yours is in very good condition it's worth around ÂŁ2.5k IMO

To be honest i like the wheels, the roof is manual and it has full light grey leather, m mirrors and bumpers. It needs a back window has its not clear anymore plus the drivers seat is worn on the outside and there is a small hole in leather apart from that its very tidy and i have never seen one this colour (veilchenblau metallic). It also has angel lights, its my first bmw so not that clued up on them to be honest, so not sure what extras it has. I have just changed the oil,air filter, pollen filter which was well blocked and plugs, i brought a oil filter but did not no that i needed a filter wrench to take it off so never changed it but now brought the tool so will change the oil again within next 4 weeks. My plan is to change the gearbox oil, coolant, fuel filter and repair drivers seat and replace rear window. The air con does not blow ice cold air, but who needs air con on a soft top lol, need to get a service reset tool too.

Are you sure it has A/C to start with? Most convertible's didn't have A/C because....well they were soft tops lol. And you stated that it has a manual roof? Are you sure? I thought e36 convertibles hoods were electric. There should be a button on the centre console.

You stated that interior was grey leather. You can get them on e36s that are not individuals. Upload a picture of the interior, so that we can see if the individuality has continued on the inside.

The arm rest is a cover and the gaitors are aftermarket.
Your hood should be fully electric for its age and it's not particularly well speced from what I can see.
I think you would struggle to get ÂŁ2k for it.

I will tidy the bits that need doing and finish the servicing off, i really wonted a van has can not afford both. If i dont get ÂŁ2000 for it , i will just keep it and the van will have to stay on hold. To be honest be sad to see it go, so i am not too bothered to keep it. Does anyone know if its the m44 engine, the gearbox is manual ,am i right in thinking you swop the oil with ATF fluid. Thanks

Individual was just another set of options that you had to pay a premium for. Generally it was a diferent range of paint colours and interior options, some of them were great, some less so. A friend of mine's Mrs bought a 318Ci in 2000, she paid a load of extra money for diferent coloured seats. They are best described as "nappy yellow", absolutley fowl, the colour combination was terrible and would have de-valued the car. Actually the colour and cost of the Individual seats was cited as a reason when he divorced her!

Is an individual worth any more? Not necessarily and rarity doesn't make any diference unless it's a particularly pleasant combination.

just checked the car, and it has air con.

The soft top is also manual

Anyone knows what this switch is for

My partner just went to a bmw dealer for some advice, and he said manual top cars fetch more money, and if i do back window and sort seats out i should be asking around ÂŁ3000 private. Think that a bit keen to be honest. lol

That's your traction control button to stop the wheels from spinning. Traction control should be on, unless you press the button. You will be informed that the traction control is off by a light on the dash.

I'm sorry, but I can't see how a manual top fetches more money than a electric top. Yours is the 1st e36 that I've seen that has a manual roof, especially for it's age.

Yes, yours that have A/C. The gearstick and handbrake gaiter are after-market. And it looks like you got a cover on the armrest.

Depends on the mileage, but ÂŁ3k would be too high. The only special thing I can see with this car is the exterior paint colour and M3 bits. That's about it.

It doesn't have heated front seats, upgraded hi-fi system, electric hood, or that 6 cylinder engine.

Here's an individual convertible for ÂŁ3k..this has the 2.8litre straight 6 engine, cruise control and rear colours etc

Here's standard convertible for ÂŁ3k...2.5litre straight 6 engine, cruise control, low mileage etc
BMW 323 2.5i i CONVERTIBLE CABRIOLET | eBay

Here's another for ÂŁ3k...2.5litre straight 6 engine with the tan interior, M3 bits..similar to yours

Another one for ÂŁ1.75k...2.5litre straight 6 engine, half leather but no A/C
BMW 323 2.5i i Convertible | eBay

Here's one for under ÂŁ1k...2.5litre straight 6 engine, leather interior, A/C but roof motors not working
BMW 323 2.5i auto i | eBay

As you can see, the price will depend on the condition of the car, the market and how good summer will be. You can make a list of good things and bad things that your car has. Then sort out the bad things, and then pop it up on eBay between ÂŁ2k and ÂŁ2.5k and see how it goes. It won't be worth as much as the straight 6 engines, unless it's something special.

tba i think one of the previous owners has added a lot of the stuff the wing mirrors wheels steering wheel.
im looking for a vert at the moment and i dont no what BMW are saying but i would lot want a manual roof.
have u done a check on it on dvla or somthink.
thought the individual would have more spec

Did a check on it before i brought it, its all stamped up in the engine bay too to confirm its a individual. I think its a nice car and it has a lot of sound system with it too, the manual roof is so easy and quick to do plus less to go wrong and to drain your battery. It is cheaper to insure then my peugeot 407 i had , the car looks better in the flesh and the colour looks a lot better then the photo has the purple does not show so good in it.
