I would check Real OEM LINK to ensure part numbers match. I recently fitted a Yaw sensor from an E46 M3 into my E46 330i (same part numbers) and all was well.

 

The part numbers do not match. Yet the connector, including pin numbering, is the same. The mounting and case design are the same. The blue label units are carry overs from Mark 20 being used in the Mark 60 system. The later units are true Mark 60 types. They both mod a 5 volt reference from the ABS/DSC controller. I wish I had one close by just to plug in and see. I haven't been able to find a reference detailing the internal construction of the rotation rate sensor. I wouldn't think that vehicle weight should matter much as it is a moment sensor. Such peculiarities as weight and position of the sensor in the vehicle would be part of the programming ... I do believe. Mostly I can't believe I may have found something that nobody has investigated yet out of sheer boredom and an overabundance of time on their hands...

 

The part numbers that fit are: 34521166003 this is the one that is fitted to mine. The later one 34526754289 also fits
The latest part number is 34526864094 and these are £800 ish

I think the 34526754289 is from the E46 and does work. I got one of the 003 ones from the USA and plugs straight in and all errors gone.

I spent ages trying to find any in the UK as they all seem to get snapped up pretty quick. The other option I was going to try was the Audi or Mercedes ones as they used the same ATE system and should work. I was led to believe the only difference was the label on the unit.

 

Excellent info. I did manage to find a correct '289 for an acceptable price when compared to the rest of the used spares market. Hopefully searchers will find this thread so they can rest easier and go about balding naturally.
