Ok, window regulator and motor fitted. Now back to the main event!

I am about to go out and change over the solenoids as you suggested mojojojo, in the meantime I have something else to ponder on. See attached screenshot.


 
I think your looking at a dodgy vanos unit then mate:frown

Regarding the missing lambda, they changed the emissions set up mid production on the N42, so wouldn't worry about the missing readings. There's no error code for lamdas is there?
 
Ok I've changed my mind.....worry about them lambda reading:eek Looks like a dead lambda, could check connections and stuff first.
The 27EC EGS is transmission related I think and I thought that was for auto's??

Ok, that sounds like a plan. I was planning on jacking her up and taking a look at the sensor (he says confidently) just to make sure the wiring/connector is ok before going any further. I've read a few posts where sensor cabling has been disconnected or broken, so with a bit of luck I may be in the same boat.

If I can't see anything obvious I will hand it over to a mechanic but I have enjoyed fault finding and repairing the easier stuff like the tensioner and the window regulator and motor.

But sometimes you just have to leave it to the professionals!

I will let you know what I find.

Just realised the error report I sent points to the lambda after the cat. Had a look under the car tonight, disconnected the connector, cleaned it up and reconnected it, no joy.

Would I get a multi meter reading off a lambda sensor, resistance, etc.?
 
Do you have the 2 or 4 sensor system, my understanding was that the models without the secondary air emission pump only have two sensors... a control and a monitor.
If it's the 2 sensor system (like the N46) I think I was right in ignoring the bank 2 readings. Your fault codes are saying bank 1. Try getting the car up to temperature and check the live lambda data, give it some revs and see if any of the values change.
