Hello guys

I have had oil leaks that have been found and taken care of.

Im writing this to hopefully get some help with my F30,

The problem:

Around 3 months back i had my first Drivetrain message appears, the car didint go into limp mode and no engine light. After a restart of the car it went fine.

Around 2 months ago, the car get drive train message once in 2 weeks and does the same thing. but right before the car gives the message it kind of stardles or engine breaks, sometime once or twice.

It has been getting worse, drivetrain comes more often, the shaking "engine breaks" comes intermittendly sometimes more sometimes less. Also a new problem started to appear, when the car is being driven and gets to a full stop and i put in reverse it shuts the engine off and car goes to neutral.
Normally after that happens it has issues starting up again, could be one time or a few times, after i get it to start it drives.. until the drivetrain message pops and the engine break comes once again. (Video on This)

Took it to the mechanic and intercooler pipes where changed, both in and out of cooler since they had oil leaks and were old. He also replaced the crank sensor hoping it would fix the issue, the reading said 225 times the sensor has been failing.

Couple of days ago i did a longer trip around 100km just to feel the car and see if it was good since i normally ride short distances. It drove like a new car, but at the end of around 50km driving the drivetrain popped up again and engine break again a couple of times. I stopped and looked under the hood, no smell nothing wrong.. started it again and it couldnt start, 3rd time it started but died. 4th time it started and ran fine.

Later that evening it started acting up more and more with the same issues. When in reverse it shuts down intermittendly.

I went to the carwash and the engine light turned yellow after a drivetrain message, the car didint mention limp mode but went really slow with no power..
The next day it drove fine again..

What could be wrong? I seriously dont know what to do, the car drives mostly fine but this can not be good for it..

This is one of the issues with car shutting down while standing still and holding break down:

Used Bimmerlink with vgate obd:

Check Minute 00:48 Permanent Errors, check minute 03:01 for Info memory, Check minute 09:44 Error Memory

Thanks for your answer, it was read properly with a "bmw Specialist" in sweden, he says he only found a fault code with the crank sensor and some black valve at the turbo, he did change the crank sensor out and replaced the turbo valve with a new one. theres still issues after that.

He also tells me that this is a rare case and he is not sure on what to do. I was thinking dpf but theres so many other things it could be..

The wierd thing is this is only happening intermittendly and the car most of the time runs fine.. when the drivetrain appears it appears a few times goes away and doesnt happen for 2-3 weeks

That’s got either a loose connection somewhere or a failing module causing power supply issues.
Check the earth points at nearside inner wing by the DDE e box and also the earth point on rear engine lifting eye to make sure clean and tight.
If they are using ISTA there is more to it than just reading fault codes,it’s a powerful piece of kit that can be extremely helpful if used correctly.

I'd have to ask if its ISTA he uses, it does seem like something could be wrong with the electric, i know i have replaced my break lights both of them due to "ground" cable burning up.. its something with theese cars and their wiring.

So you think it can only be a lose connection since its intermittend? im thinking if it was something that the car never started or this happened all the time it would be something worse but since its intermittend it probably is a lose connection that is connected most of the time.

2 codes im bothered by is the one that says:
254C00 Accelerator pedal and brake active simultaniously - This is so wierd, i kind feel the car wants to brake slightly on its own sometimes
03009B: Reversing in emergency mode - this probably has to do with the car shutting of when i put it in reverse (intermittendly)

I went to BMW today, explained everything and booked a check up in 3 weeks, the guy did seem familliar with the issues ive told him about and said i have a feeling this can be the EGR or something related to its function.

The EGR was replaced with a new one around 3 months ago.

I will update you through this thread for someone else who maybe asks the same question.
