The N2 (with DPF) engines had a 32mm cartridge style flaps that rarely failed. I think I have seen one go on this forum once.

What kind of life has the car had, the more stop/start and town driving the more likely the flaps are to fail. If the car is high mileage I would have the EGR, Thottle body and inlet manifold off for cleaning anyway and check the condition of the flaps. I have older M47N engine with the bad flaps and mine were perfect at 120k miles, but given the horror story I took then out anyway.

Cheers mate, Its done 149k I would say all motorway was rep car with no one sitting in back or passenger seats plus full BMW service.

Will check the EGR valve and inlet manifold and let you know what I find.

Only comes with one key seen some on bay but don't know how to program these will it have to go to BMW for that?

Thanks again.

In that case risk of failure is low but worth having a look, the day you turn a blind eye is the day the f**ker drops out and bombs the engine

One from ebay won't work, they are linked to the DDE (Engine ECU) BMW will sell you one for the princely sum of ÂŁ190 :jaw-dropping
