You can get the error mapped out so the EML wont illuminate or I believe placing a blank, with a 7mm hole in it, in the valve inlet from the exhaust
will also work as the 7mm hole will allow sufficient recirculating gas through to satisfy the sensor.:thumbsup

oh and mind my manners, welcome to the forums :D

How can I just get that damn EML not to go on...
The only suggestion I can think of, and its a long shot, is to post a specific thread in the Tuning section of the forums
and hope one of the forums approved tuners pick up on it and answer your dilemma? :thumbsup
Hi , i have just sold a Mondeo 2.2 tdci , i blanked the EGR valve on it and the difference was brilliant , i am considering doing the same on my newly puchased 2006 BMW X3 3.0 D, any advice would be most appreciated as i am a Beemer newby ,(also anybody got round the firm ride without affecting the handling ?)
Like the OP you'll illuminate the EML if you block the EGR valve, mapping out the error is the only way to blank/bypass the EGR valve and keeping the EML off.
Sorry other than adjusting the tyre pressures I can't advise regarding the firm ride !

Please Note-
Blanking the EGR is thought by some to increase exhaust gas temperatures Turbos can seize because the lubrication
will fail due to the increased heat with the EGR disabled,
there is suggestion to the contrary tho so I'm simply pointing out the risks but it's the your call if you want to bypass.
