Can anyone shed little light on this , my idrive started acting up , the wheel running free and not responding , it has cd and DVD player and tv.
music worked when it wants on and off , when to quarry motors Sheffield said book it in for a code reading £40. my mates garage has all the euro 6 gear code read it ,only thing glow plug activation shown cylinder 5
so ,
every body telling me it will need a new unit under dash , mate had to pay £400 to have his fixed they said putting a copy cd in corrupted unit and had to be swapped ,What !!!!! sounds like a of horse sh--t to me , how can a copy cd damage hard wear its a soft ware problem.when they fixed it they had no phone and said it needs a code from bmw which he would have pay for to reinstate it so my mate hasn't bothered
.
any here you go !!!!! the dvd was making a searching noise when the music and the wheel spinning so thought right in the boot and the unit with the fan looks like a computer to me "what is it" thats the question any way the blue plug into the unit out it came , guess what the idrive works the cd music works , the tv and the dvd drive don't but so what and the phone is not working just like my mates , sounds like pulling the blue plug cost him £400!!!! any way whats the unit with the fan anyone .
I've been in the automotive industry 25 years and its very difficult not to have your leg lifted and find someone that aint going to charge you a fortune for very little work.

You can brick these units by trying to update them with bad firmware or by interrupting the firmware upgrade while in progess. Rough guess it may just be the DVD optical drive that's had it. You can buy replacement units relatively cheap.

If it has had a bad update its possible some functions will need re-coding.
