Hi All,

I have just bought a BMW 320d 2003 and it came with a sat nav unit. This unit also has a telephone option among the visable options on the display, as well as what can be described as a phone mount with connector neatly located under the driver arm rest. Just near the gear there is a button which seems to indictae speak (Icon - head with audio). I have never owned these units before and wanted to know if I am able to synch connect my iphone via blutooth or cable using the inbuild telephone? If so it saves me having to buy a bluetooth unit.

I tried searching for bluetooth devices on my iphone but it didn't pick anything up. Not sure if that means I dont have bluetooth or I have to activate something on the unit. Incidently when I navigate to 'Telephone' on the display it simply shows me a blank screen with activated.

Any help would be much appreciated. Apologies if this has been discussed before I ran a few searches but couldn't find anything specific.

Thanks,

If you have the phone option on the menu and the pairing button then you have bluetooth installed. A 2003 car is likely to have an early bluetooth module, unless it's been replaced, so it may not work with an iPhone.

The pairing mechanism is stupidly dificult to activate untill you've got the hang of it :

Ignition off
Press and hold the pairing button in the center consol
wait 2 seconds
Ignition to position I (accessory)
wait 2 seconds
release pairing button

In pairing mode you have to search for bluetooth accesories with your phone, pari to it and enter the 4 digit pass code that should have come with the car documentation on a card about the same size as the owners manual. If you don't have the card then the key is also printed on the side of the bluetooth module, but this is located behind the trunk trim on the left side near the Nav computer.

I tried it and it worked perfectly. Actually it didn't bleep.. With the ignition off I held down the button by the handbrake for 3 seconds... turned the ignition to position 2 let go of the button and 3 seconds later bluetooth pairing was displayed on the sat nav. Luckily I managed to find the pass key in my documentation. works great! Thanks alot for your help.

Pleeeeease help - I have the same problem, but I don't have my 4 digit code. The garage never supplied it and as I'm entering court action with them shortly over work they should have done but never carried out i can't talk to them.
I get the pairing indication on the radio but my phone (iphone 3GS) asks for a code and i don't have it. How can i get it. BMW say i probably need a new module and could cost me up to ÂŁ600.
Thanks for any help.
