Hi all, long time reader, first time poster...

Buying some oil tomorrow for a oil and filter change. Did a halfords search, using reg number, and 5W/30 and more expensive (slightly) 0w/40 popped up.
Whats the difference and better? My car is a 136bhp 320d, 135k on the clock and looking for the best oil I can get really, as slightly confused now,
Any replies highly appreciated :)

depends what protection you want the ow/40 will be a better protection oil than the 5w/30 as it is a better quality normally the ow/30 castrol edge is a very good oil which i sell in my shop depending on what protection you want as the 5w/30 would just be standard which castrol also do called castrol magnatec.

Btw I meant 5w/30 not 5w/40 :hihi

I think 0/40 is a tad thin tbh, 5w will still be fluid to like -60 C with EDGE, so unless you're planning on driving over Everest, I would still prefer 5w personally, but its up to you, either is a good for your engine.
