Hi Guys

did a quick search and could not find something similar

My car has double glazing so do not know if this is what the problem is but when it goes up its a bit slow and when it comes down it again is slow but now and then it squeaks.

But as it does this the window gets vertical smears on it almost as though something is touching the glass and has a residue on it?

so my thinking was maybe its something touching it which causing a high amount of friction and as a result slow movement??

all other windows fine

any help appreciated

wanted to solve it before something serious goes or happens mechanically

sorry if in wrong area

thanks

Hi Guys

Thanks for the reply,

I have tried cleaning the window no joy, same thing when the window comes back up get those darn vertical lines, I will try n get a hold of some silicone spray n try that thanks ronnie

sorry for my stupidity m3tobe are the runners in the door i.e. removal of the door panel etc?

I was hopeing it may have been a strip that touches the window at the top of the door panel?? ( a bit like a cleaner) that has worn?? and as the window is moving the furry bits (sorry do not know how else to describe it) have worn away leaving the rubber bit which is causing the problem? arrrgh

thanks will try over w/end

Hi guys

I thought i would put the window all the way down and have a close look at the trim that touches the window on the inside (the top of the door panel where it curves in towards the window horizontal across the face of the window and the vertical guides)and i think that it may be the cause as when you look at them there are furry bits but in places they are worn right down to the rubber and i think this is causing the friction and causing it to be slow but definately causing the vertical smear lines, i checked the other windows they are still furry on all these pieces, so obviously the driver window gets the most use so may may be they just have worn out and now need replacing?

can these be replaced without taking the door panel off?

thanks

Hi

I have finally replaced the weatherstrip and the inside horizontal strip that touches the window, squeaking and smearing have disappeared but the window is still very slow if anything its slower than before and stops before closing, i then wait 5 secs then press it again then it continues and closes?

could it be regulator or regulator needs lubing or could it be the motor? I do not hear any wierd sounds as it goes up / down

any help much appreciated!!
