Can some tell me why my car tax is higher than the same model and year than others.
It’s a 3.0d 2007

What model are we exactly talking about? Late E53 or early E70? The last E53 models were manufactured 9/2006 and may have been registered on 2007 side. E53 has higher CO2 emissions than the newer E70 models.

If it's E53, there is a quirk in the tax system. They introduced a new top CO2 band in 2006 - but if you car was over the top level and registered before 23 March 2006, then you continue to pay the lower tax band. The upshot is that some of the final E53s registered after 23 March 2007 were band M at £580 per year, whereas the ones registered before 23 march 2006 are considered Band K which is £330 per year. No difference in the cars - just the registration date being either side of the legal cut off.

Might be to do with sport vs SE and associated wheels and tyres causing CO2 emission differences enough to trip a different band...

Yes there is a difference between sport and the se, but these are both se spec.
Exactly the same car. On is grey and mine is black.

Were they specified originally with different wheels - I note your comment about both being SE but they may have had different size wheels which can cause CO2 differences?

The figure used to determine the £40k threshold is the list price of the car on the day it is registered
it is not determined by the price when ordered, the price when built, or whether there have been a few changes to the specification.

It doesn't matter what the car looks like. As far as DVLA tax tables are concerned, if it's March 2007 then it's an E53 and it's in band L or M which is £565 or £580.
