Evening All.
Been having few battles with my X3 (on another thread) and have got all the engine related problems sorted.
Went out for a long drive earlier and had a small jolt at about 40mph and then some yellow warning lights (abs, 4x4/traction,tyre pressure). Got home and looked at the codes and the drivers rear abs sensor is showing a fault.
That wheel/area also smells of burning plastic which would make sense as a garage recently said my rear reluctor rings are corroded and the ABS sensors are touching them.
Anyway....
Anyone know how hard it is to get at the reluctor rings? There's lots of places selling them for the X3 and it's far cheaper than having a garage send the shafts away to be refurbed.
How hard can it be!!
Wheel off, caliper, disc. Then remove enough so i can pull the driveshaft out of the hub and get at the reluctor ring.
Break off the old corroded ring. Chean it all up and fit the new ring on. Either heating it or some are glued on :S
Any help appreciated.
Cheers.
