Hi all,

New to the forum and first post is a really boring one about DPF filters!

I've got a 2012 X3 30D on 99k miles. Noticed a loss of fuel economy and then the oil level increased. I work for a small family owned garage and got the technician to remove the DPF. I took it to a specialist for cleaning, they stuck a camera in to inspect it first and showed me the inside core is all broken up. Great!

So I need to by a replacement and my plan is to buy a genuine used one off a low mileage car due to the cost of new ones! There seem to be loads of different part numbers and I would love to know how I can tell what will fit and what won't! Many people on the likes of eBay are suggesting that the same part is used across 3 series, X3, X5's etc which use the N57 30D engine.

I have attached two pics one of my filter with part numbers and another filter which is available to buy. Could anyone tell me if it's likely to fit...

Thanks in advance...

Tom

Thanks for your reply on this.

The guy at the DPF cleaning centre said I was very unlucky because normally the BMW ones are OK and they are the ones he looks forward to cleaning most! Typical.

So it has to have one of those three 7 digit numbers on. I was reading somewhere that part numbers get superseded by new numbers?

Does anyone know if there is a physical difference between the DPF on euro 5 cars like mine and the DPF on newer cars that come under euro 6 or is the difference going to be on the ECU mapping?

Thanks

Tom
