Can anyone help?

Ive been offered a set 18" MV2 alloys (cheap), but they need tyres. What size tyres should I go for and will they be ok ?

I have a 1994 E36 325 Convertible.

Cheers Andy

What size have you got now?

I've had Yokohamas before now and was really impressed with performance wear and price.

Try here to find out what size tyre you need if changing wheel size.

Your wheel size should be stamped into the inside rim (easy to see with wheels on the car! ha ha)

Not sure mate how can you tell ?
the et (offset) will be stamped into the rear of the wheel, maybe even the size will be.
if there are 2 different offsets then they are the staggered fitment.

225/40 is the front tyre size...and rear if not staggered
255/35 for the staggered rears, but be careful if your e36 is lowered, you may need the arches rolled
As stated by 328 Mark, those are the correct sizes standard fit on the 18".

Also in 255/35/18, you will be restricted a few brands of tyres which are premium brand tyres. You will not be able to get any budget brands ditchfinder's for £50 p/corner so just take this into consideration.

They are genuine. Can I get away with having 225 40 all round ?
If they are genuine then it wont be suitable on the rears as the tyre won't sit correctly on the rim therefore affecting safety!

Any reputable garage would not fit incorrect tyres to wheels as if you have an accident or if anything happens, you'll pass the blame onto the tyre garage.
