Hi All,

I was checking my tyres today on my 535D and noticed that that one of the 4 tyres is a different brand and speed rating.

Tyre Size
------------------------
Front - Fullrun
245/35 ZR 19 93W XL Extra Load

Rear -
275/30 ZR 19 - Fullrun
275/30 R 19 96 Y - Continental

From my understanding you can have different tyres at the front and back but they should ideally match in pairs.

The continental is brand new, should I swap or let them run till end of life ?
Also does the Y and ZR speed rating make much difference ?

thanks Whiz

Thank you for sending the links.

Looks like the ZR and Y are safe for speed rating to go above speeds over 100 :)

Also anyone have experience on having 2 different rear tyres or feedback on guidelines ?

thanks Whiz

You have to have the same size not brand, speed rating etc on each rolling axis.
I could not have all the same size all round as I have the staggerered wheel set up which you may well have. (Wider rears)

Edit;
Having two differed brands either side on the rear will bring in differing breakaway characteristics, when pushed obviously, they may also have different wet/dry braking performances but in normal driving should not cause you any grief.
