Is it just me or does BMW make too many models now? :confused

Go back a few years and it was just 3 series, 5 series, a few 6 series, 7 series and the 8 series finished in 1999.

The Z series was fine, two seater sports car

The X series fine, SUV

Then they bought the Mini - fine

Then the 1 series - ok so a small BMW

But why a 2 series and a 4 series? and you use use to know a 318 had a 1,8 engine, now if you look at the badge you have no idea of the engine size!

Maybe I'm just getting old

Yeah I get confused, I followed a 15 reg 640d today and thought nice, might have one one day except it'd be a 2 door - shame, then saw it had 4 doors as I passed it, kinda does your head in
