Best way to describe it is a nail in tire making tapping noise. The tires have been checked all over, no sign of any nail or stone.

I think it’s coming from one of the the rear wheels.

Incase it’s important I have an M135i with brembo discs and pads

You can always hear it after 20mph no matter if you’re turning or just going straight.
The faster you go the more taps you hear (1 tap per revolution of the wheel) so when you speed up itit’s just a constant tapping.
When I brake it goes from tap-tap-tap to tap-tap-ttttttt until you get to 20mph then you can hear it again.

Maybe a small stone stuck in the pads.

stone in tread or as above stone stuck in pad area,or even handbrake shoes can have some weird tapping/scraping/metalic sounds

jack the car up spin wheel and see if you can hear it.
