Hi guys,
just got the full logbook through for my car,

its a 2001 325 CI SPORT

It is down as this in the logbook but I have just noticed the engine capacity is down as 2198cc, which to me is 2.2 not 2.5!
Oh dear.

Also I believe the 2.2 from 320 coupe sports isnt exactly 2198cc anyway, isnt it slightly different?

Also is there an easy way to tell the 2.5 apart from 2.2 engine?
Not sure where the engine code is but I have autodata somewhere which I might have to install.

Run your Chasis number through RealOem..........that will give you the engine code.

Well I just tried that, and it comes up as the logbook says, 325ci coupe

P E46 Cou 325Ci M54 ECE 20010200 R N
Production Code: BN32, batch ID: 47617

All I am thinking is maybe it has had a 2.2 engine put in and the DVLA told about it, and only updated the engine capacity??

(Hope not and its just an error)

It's probably an error by DVLA. They got my VIN wrong when my car was first registered.

hmm, cool I hope so,

Just also thinking it probably needs sorting in case the worst should happen and the insurer says that my insurance is void due to wrong details?

It is agreed with insurer that its a 2.5 though hmm

Right BMW do not make a 322 so this engine is most probably categorised as a 325 or 320.

Anyone shed any light on the above?

yeah I just had a look and some 320 CIs have a 2.2 engine
m54b22?

the 325 should be 2.5 m54b25

The CC doesnt match what is on my logbook so guessing dvla have spannered it up

my mates e46 saloon is wrongly listed as a 5 door and those weren't made when his car was first registered lol (1998)

I had a 320ci and that was a 2.2 engine.
The 318ci is a 2.0 engine, and the difference between the 2.0 and the 2.2 is that the 2.0 is 4 cylinder and the 2.2 is 6 cylinder.
The 325ci is what it says on the badge a 2.5 engine and the same for the 330ci.
BMW unfortunately try to confuse us with the engines, and infact i know that the new 3 series saloons.. not too sure about the coupe, have had the badges messed around with again!!!

Not forgetting the 323i engines are de-rated 2.5 engines :D
