Hi all,

My steering wheel shakes back and forth at around 24mph and around 55mph. It also sometimes feels notchy at low speeds when moving the steering wheel.

The car has recently had new front inner and out tie rods, front control arm bushings and new rear dampers.

Any input welcome, I don't drive an awful lot of distance, I'm going to book it for wheel balancing soon!

Did the problem start before or after you had the work done?
Wheel balancing is the cheap obvious thing to check first.

i would also check if the trailing arm bushes 4 bolts are ok. (none of the threads are damaged etc) they don't have to be too tight 59Nm

if the steering feels notchy check the inner (cabin) and outer (under bonnet) UV joints on the steering column shaft are not partially seized. prone to it gives notchy and stiffer steering..

shaking either inbalanced or buckled wheels and or poor allignment...
