Hi all,

I've spotted a small screw in the tyre which I have successfully unscrewed and done a soap and water test and there is no leak, should I be worried and get it repaired or ignore if there is no leak, tyre still have 4mm of rubber left.

Thanks
Sal

It’s an obvious one I know, but I’m guessing you’ve checked the pressure? With a run flat you can’t tell by looking at it if there is actually any air in it.

My only other concern would be that if the tyre is damaged there could be risk of a high speed blowout?

You say you have 4mm of tread on the tyre. Whereabouts on the tyre did the screw go in, and how deep was it? 2mm? 3mm? 4mm? Or more? For safety's sake I'd ask your local tyre specialist if they could vulcanise a patch on the inside where that screw was embedded.

i never take a screw out,, check tyre for pressure,,if its ok i leave it for a week,,keep checking etc,,also depending how new the tyre is,,some scews look like they went in straight,,but actually go in side ways and do not go all the way through..id moniter it,,nearly due for a new tyre anyway..
