Hey all,

My lass's hyundai coupe (MY2005) seems to be acting up. Just took it out for a drive and the symptoms are these.

Engine starts normally and settles down to idle normally.
Revs rise normally and car drives fine until backing off the gas. At that point the revs dont drop as quickly as they did. There's no fluctuation in the revs or anything - its just slow to drop to normal position. Slot the next gear, accelerate and everythings fine again.

Googling suggests throttle position sensor or idle control valve but there doesnt seem to be a problem with the idle, even from cold.

Had a play with the throttle cable and all seems fine there...no signs of sticking or owt. Anything else anyone can think of other than replacing above?

Cheers in advance for any help :)

idle speed control valve would be my guess - I had the same symptoms on my old Escort, gave it a good flush with carb cleaner and it was fine after that.

Thanks guys. Think ill have a dig around and see if there's any obvious failures with the above parts and then if I cant see owt, take it in for a read of the fault codes.
