Hello all,

I am hoping that there is someone who may be able to assist myself and my nieghbour in confirming our deductions. We wish to know what each of the wires from the oxygen sensor are. From the Haynes manaual we have found the right picture with the shape of the connector.

This has 4 wires marked 1 to 4 and the table beside it says
4 = + for heater
3 = - for heater
2 = +
1 = nothing, but suspect that it is the ground.

The haynes electrical diagram shows the sensor with 4 wire marked on it numbered 22,7,9 and 6, what do these refer to in relation to the oxygen sensor.

many thanks in advance for any help on this.

Hi mate,

Just curious..........what are you trying to do, have you got hold of one of those cheap sensors that you're trying to splice into the loom?

Not so much me as rather him. He wishes to improve the mpg of the car and has found details of 'leaning' out the mixture by monitoring the oxygen sensor. But before doing anything he wants to measure the voltages generated by the sensor to see wether the device would work.

If it does then he may improve the mpg by 20% or so. Considering a lot of the journeys done are quite short even a small improvement will save money.

These are the pin assignments to the DME(Engine Control Module).

If he does do alot of short journeys then the Lambda sensor doesn't operate until it's in closed loop mode(in other words till the engine/cat is warm enough), if it's the original sensor then it probably needs replacing anyway which will help with MPG alot
