Eyup all, just put a deposit down on a 59 plate touring 325d SE auto, 107k miles. Car looks to have a decent spec, FSH, 1/2 leather, idrive, bluetooth, nav... Any specific things to look out for would be much appreciated, new to BMWs. Put a deposit down as the car ticks all the boxes for me but it's a distance away, anything I should walk away from? Yeah don't get caught up in the 'moment' and if not what was described be prepared to walk, take a cynical friend

https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/ if you have the reg, as you've put a returnable deposit down a bit of homework might show all is kosher
(as in if you've put the deposit down they'll give you the reg unless they have something to hide)

Cheers for that link thanatoid, history shows it's failed once on brake pad thickness (or lack of) and rear brakes binding, advisories for under trays and engine covers being fitted, nowt else so no obvious skeletons in t'cupboard. That said I shall be going with open eyes as he's in deepest darkest Yorkshire and I'm a Lancs lad . The dealer has said if I'm not 100% happy wi t'motor he's no problem with us walking away with our deposit, must be pretty confident though as he's taken it off auto trader and listed it as sold on his website. Got a couple of other cars on t'backburner just in case though but made my mind up on getting a 6 cylinder E91. Engine is key, spec secondary consideration but this motor ticks all the boxes, will need to keep grounded when looking.

Always find that mot site good for tracking mileage increase year to year or if it went off radar for a while..... brakes stuff happens, dead common

Reet then, we bought it. Immaculate motor, drives superbly, unmarked outside and in. To drive, wow. Just wow. Corners like it's on rails, superb steering, handling and the 6 pot noise when ticking over and when you press the naughty pedal is pure car porn even though it's an oil burner, I love it. FSH (11 stamps in the book) with BMW main agents and subsequently indie specialists. Wearing a set of 5mm Continental Sport Contact 3, gives me the impression (rightly or wrongly) that a car has been cared for if it wears decent rubber rather than ditch finder cheap stuff. Other evidence supports its been cherished, car is unmarked, take off the plates and you'd believe it was 3 years old. The tyres fitted are 235/45/17 though and the standard size listed is 225/45/17. I'd be looking to put Michelin cross climates on for daily duties and stashing the Contis away for a summer European road trip, what difference would 235 vs 225 make? Cross climates are available in 225 as standard but not the 235 as fitted currently.
Yeah I'm a long term Michy liker, err have them on the 'other' car But they don't do my current 5 series sizes, so kept runflats on Conti's though and good.
Congrats, what got me about my first bmw was the capability ... just all around ability when you wanted to push on, and nice place to be when not!
