what do you think of this i syphoned off anouther forum

just been to my local garage for a problem iv had with the alignment with my headlights...which as usual they wouldnt do through the warranty and wanted 75+vat to fix >>>>LOL<<<<
.....anyway the manager came over to me when i picked up the vehicle sat me down and said, i strongly advise you to remove the osram nightbreaker bulbs you have fitted to your car, they are now not road legal!!! and therefore by using them voids the warrenty of the vehicle!!

i only changed them last week so i still had the packaging in the car (cos im a scruffy get) lol ...and showed him that it said they were e-marked and road legal!

but he wouldnt have any of it, he then said give me a min and came back with a police officer..(u can imagine the look on my face, myself haha) his patrol car was being fixed, and indeed he confirmed that the bulbs are now illegal and if you are cought using them you will be fined and given an order to get them changed by a recognised garage

Yes, they are e-marked, but have never technically, IIRC, been road legal, load of BS about it voiding your warranty, and about being caught, you gotta have f***ing good eyes to spot they are different.

Sorry, I'm getting confused with Philips X-treme vision, they are illegal. I'm guessing that if you keep the packaging and it states road-legal then your covered, but I have not in 5 years of driving ever been pulled to check my bulbs.........

I have philips X-treme in the 525d and have just put in osram nightbreaker in the 530d, I have just checked the website where I purchase them from and it clearly states that each set of bulbs are street legal. With the different type of lights you see on cars nowadays I think it would be extremely difficult to guess the bulb in a headlamp unit. If your headlamps are mis aligned and the beam is all over the place you are more likely to get pulled for that surely??? Furthermore - don't think that Auto Express would condone fitting illegal bulbs to your car - they have tested both sets of bulbs and given these product awards as well.
