Hi All!

I'm a long time lurker of this forum, anyway i'ts probably the wrong place for this but the reason I'm now a fully logged on member now is, I was driving my 2011 520d along at ~25 mph through the town yesterday evening and it calmly and smoothly died on me. It was if it had run out of fuel, but I had plenty, so the AA towed me home and the only code I had was pointing towards the camshaft position sensor. So is this the dreaded N47 timing chain problem I've read so much about? Popping the bonnet and having a listen to the chain cold and after a run is part of my weekly car check routine along with pressures etc and it had no rattle. Anyway hi all!

EDIT: Issue resolved by the awesome people at BMW.

As far as I know, if the chain snaps, its dies very loudly, abruptly and making a generally expensive sound.

From your description that wasn't the case so finger crossed
