Hi everybody,
My dme ms45 5WK93016 from 525i E60 2014 is damaged. I have found a donor DME ms45 5WK93012 from 530i E60 2015. (The last digit of the DME number differs). After learning from members of forums I understand that i can replace the original DME with the donor one after cloning via BDM and the VIN and ISN will be transfered to the donor DME in this method.

Is my understanding correct? If I am correct do i need also the the BDM frame with the k-tag kit? This frame is not included in the k-tag BDM kit. Will I encounter problems because the DME no. differs?

Please help.

Thank you for your response. Sorry for the delay to reply.
Couple of transistors got burnt. May be water leaked to the computer board. Please see the pic. car just cranked. No running.

I would not advise you to clone the ecu as this can cause other problems now or later

We have full refurbished ecu for this car which we program on the car as a brand new ecu just as you would by from a bmw dealer

Also you will need to check where the cause of the short circuit is so you don’t damage the next ecu in the same way
