My 1999 E36 328i convertible has developed a parasitic drain of about 100mA. What is the procedure to ensure that the car is fully in sleep mode and how to shut the doors, boot and bonnet to stop activating any of the ECU modules around the car.

The glovebox light is already disconnected and I checked the boot light with a video camera inside so both of those usual problems have been discounted. Don't think it is the FSU as the drain is too small.

Hi Alan, it was more about how to ensure that all the ECU modules around the car are in sleep mode. For instance, the bonnet needs to be open to gain access to the fuses. I can remove the under bonnet lights but doesn’t the fact that the bonnet is open prevent the modules from going into sleep mode? Similarly what about the doors?

I intend to use the voltage drop method to find the drain.

I think you will be ok with the bonnet open and bulb out.
The car will take 16 minutes to sleep.
Push the latch in the door lock with a screwdriver till it locks as tho you have shut it.
