HI,
Im new to this or any forum, but hoping you guys will be able to point me in the right direction. I am in the early stages of fitting a 530d engine into my mk2 Transit swb . ( I have got the engine running on the crane using the stripped out loom).I was hoping to run the Autobox but this doesnt seem to be a viable option. Which brings me to my question. What are my gearbox options? Can I use one of the later 6 speed boxes ? if so Which ? I would prefer an overdriven top gear if possible.The highest ratio Ford rear axle i could use is about a 3.11-1. But might be a little lower depending on what comes up at the right money. Ive read threads on line about it not being worth doing the 6 speed swap in some BMWs, but in my situation any gearbox I fit is going to mean the same work, so I would welcome your opinions on which might be best route and exactly what to shop for.
