Hi i took my BMW 428 2014 into get serviced at a BMW specialist. When i picked it up i didn’t make it home (about 2 miles) and the engine started to sound like a box of spanner’s and the low oil pressure warning come up on the screen. It’s only done 40,000 miles the garage is blaming it on it being about 3000 miles over due a service has anyone ever heard of anything like this before?

Bullshit, they probably forgot the sump plug (or filter, or a n other orifice plug) ... I'd have a crawl under and check before getting them to take it back and fix it .. get dated pictures if you find anything!

I did have a look around the engine there wasn’t any oil leaking or anything they took the car back to the garage before i had a chance to look properly they are now saying it’s nothing to do with what they have done and i need a new engine in hindsight i shouldn’t have let them take back until i checked it all over properly

Did you have a look when they took it apart again? Was the center tab (and o-ring) on filter cover still intact and filter not collapsed?

I didn’t see but he did say to me when i picked the car up originally that the old filter was collapsed but he didn’t seem to think it was an issue.

I know you said there wasn't an oil leak, but did you actually check the oil level? Sounds awfully like they forgot to put enough oil in.

The problem is there isn’t a dip stick to see the oil level. the engine has to be running then you can check it on the computer

It says that in my user manual but there's actually a dipstick right at that back of the engine,

Gutted for you pal, definitely garage error, proving it will be a chore but go and seek: a/second opinion b/solicitor
Wouldn’t be paying for a garage screw up, feel your pain ...
