no, its insured, i would be more worried about someone breaking in and trying to nick it leaving me with the problem of sorting it out. locks and steering lock plus other related damage!

I would be too, but I'd be more worried about when I go out in it getting home again.

I've had 3 cosworths and they have been the most unreliable cars I have ever owned, 1 in 10 long journeys they would come home on a AA wagon, plus point was it would be cheaper on fuel that way :hihi

lol i know they're a bit unreliable.

lol never say never!

only thing I can say is make sure it's got a tracker fitted and don't leave the keys round the house - keep them on you at all times, the majority of cars that get nicked these days are taken with the keys which are generally taken after breaking in, usually when the owners are in the house asleep.

see i thought if they ever did, it would be lifted onto a truck!?

Reason for the post is the engine at 4k.. isnt insured.. I mean the insurance dont know I have forged internals and a gas flowed head..

I mean wtf are they going to say to that? maybe I need performance insurance????

Dont think I'd be covered for all the money spent like nearly 20k including the motor

It wasnt the engine that was unreliable (well only a few times) 90% of the time it was the drivetrain, braking driveshafts and UJs were favourite.

Your in for a life of missery :thumbsup

Instead of losing sleep over it I'd get a tracker fitted, top notch alarm, snapp off steering wheel and keep in a garage. No point in owning a car like that if it has to live outside.

This might sound harsh, but if you are sh*t scared of it getting nicked then whats the point in buying it?

I purchased our 320d knowing there was a chance of it taking a drive without me at the wheel but at the end of the day, it's insured.

My house is alarmed, it would take them days to find the keys as they are kept in a secret location :thumbsup and I would have them under my knee waiting for the cops if they get in.

But like others have said, get a tracker for piece of mind and also will help a resale.:D

My car hasn't been touched since it has had a steering wheel disclok fitted. Previous to this it was opened up easily and someone attempted to steal it(no luck), and it does get left in some choice areas/locations/pubs. :rofl

I used to worry, then my corolla was hit by uninsured driver, my subaru was bricked and my bmw was keyed.

We now have 2 heavily fortified garages that we keep the e92 and his project car in, the e46 sits on the road for now.

In your case I'd consider a tracker. Put your mind at rest a bit, and will reduce your insurance premium quite a bit I would think. A lot of companies wouldn't quote me on my subaru without a tracker, so I wonder if the cosworth would be the same.

Someone I knew way back when used to chain his cosworth to the garage floor.

I had a car once I used to leave unlocked mainly because it was worthless and the cost of a new window/lock scarred the sh!t outta me!

Thankfully I now drive a decent car that doesn't attract to many thieves.

A old escort though, magnet unfortunately..

I would just live with the fact knowing one day it'll get lifted just make sure its fully quoted on the insurance.

I have only had my first ever BMW for a week and initailly worried sick that it would be keyed, vandalised through a break-in or idiots parking too close and banging the car when they try to open their door. I've had all this happen to previous cars so quite sensitive it is going to happen again.

I took out fully comprehensive insurance and thought all was okay until I discovered the insurance industry use a database that determines the value of your cherished car. This value is the trade value (the lowest value) and not what you think it's worth. They even subtract compulsory and voluntary excesses too, so in the event of a total loss you get less than the trade value. If you disagree with their valuation and insist on a higher market value then this will be reflected with an increased premium and I suspect no guarantee they won't rely on their trade value.

The tracker would add more peace of mind but I wonder again how the insurance company(s) would deal with a recovered car that had been trashed.

Were your cars bricked and keyed on your property?

Your Cosworth will get nicked. So will your RS6. Every single Cosworth/Cosworth Sapphire poster I've seen on a forum comes back eventually to say it's gone.

They seem to attract people with flatbeds, no matter how good your security is.

Same with the RS6, because the Police have never successfully caught one in a chase. One specialist garage was broken into and every RS6 that had an engine and box was taken.

You might as well store a pile of cash outside your house. It's that tempting.
